HP Printer Paper

If you have an HP inkjet printer it is always better to buy HP printer paper to use with it. All of the printer makers advise the same with their own brand of paper to match their machines. This is because these machines were designed to run best on this type of paper, and so if you want to get th most out of your machine, you should stick to their recommmened printer paper.

HP Printer paper was designed especially for use on HP printers. However, the same does not hold true if you are using a laser printer. In this case, you can use brand of paper and it will not affect how well your printer prints.

HP Printer Paper

HP have a wide range of printer papers all designed for specific tasks. What you should be looking out for is:

• Finish
• Brightness
• Weight
• Size

all of which are marked on the outside of the package. The finish can be glossy, matte or satin, each of which will give you a different look and feel depending on how you want your finished article to look. Glossy adds a professional touch, matte makes the words easier to read while satin is espcially good for printing photgraphs as it gives the surface of the picture a shine.

The brightness of the paper is measured in a scale from 1 to 100, 100 being the brightest. This is basically how white the paper is, and so determines how well your printed words or pictures will stand out.

The weight of the paper describes how thick it is. Heavier paper would be desired if you wished to print out stand alone card, for example. Weight is measured in pounds and generally starts at about 18-20 but can go much higher for heavier papers. The thickness of the paper is measured in millimetres and may also be mentioned on the packaging.

HP printer paper can be bought in many sizes, but it is always better to check your printer's instruction before buying in case your printer cannot print in that particular size.

Always choose the type of paper suited to the job in hand. If you want to print business cards on a laser printer you would want to use HP Laserjet Tough Paper.
